Free local lists and meal planning. Paid sync only if you need it.
Local List Assist for Android is the standalone version of the product. It works in free local mode by default, so you can manage lists on one device without paying first. It has also grown into a one-stop grocery and meal-planning hub: plan the week's meals, cook from saved recipes, and build the shopping list from them. If you want backup, multi-device access, or shared spaces with other people, optional paid sync is available inside the app.
What's new
Phone-first tab bar
A bottom tab bar puts List, Shop, Meals, and Plan one tap away, plus a Shopping Mode that shows only the unchecked items in your aisle order with big tap targets.
Autocomplete & Frequent
Quick Add suggests items you've added before with the category already resolved, and one-tap Frequent chips put your everyday staples on the list without typing.
Recipes with cook mode
Save a meal once with its ingredients and directions, add it with a pre-checked checklist, then follow the numbered steps in cook mode as you make it.
Dated meal planner
Assign meals to real dates, page between weeks, and add a day's or the whole week's ingredients to your list at once - combined and de-duplicated across meals.
Smarter grouping
An expanded built-in set (Seafood, Snacks, Beverages, Personal Care, and more) with more precise matching, so far fewer items land in "Other".
Local-first
Everything works on-device in free local mode. Saved meals and the meal planner are stored locally on your device; optional sync covers lists.

Sync model
Sync is optional. A subscribed account gets one personal sync space automatically, and that same user can still join other sync spaces as a member. The app should remain fully useful even if you never enable sync. Saved meals and the meal planner are stored locally on your device and are not synced across devices yet.
Product stance
This is utility software. No ads. No behavior-tracking analytics. No Home Assistant requirement. Local mode stays straightforward, and sync is there only for the people who actually need it.
